This Navajo Squash Blossom by well known silversmith Fannie Platero. This piece is stamped. The total length of this necklace is 24 inches from end to end. The Naja is 3 1/4 inches wide by 3 1/4 inches long. Each blossom is beautifully detailed, approximately 1 3/4 inches long. Earrings are approximately 1 1/4 inches long and 1/2 inch wide. Turquoise is said to be the first gemstone known to man. It has been admired and revered for its beauty and healing properties since about 900 A.D. Turquoise has long been used as personal adornment by Southwestern Native American for more than 100 years. Hachita is a town in the Galilee district of Southern New Mexico. This mine is now extinct.
